HILL CITY CHURCH
Where we started
For over five years, Hill City Church has operated in Northern Virginia as a church focused on worshiping Jesus through discipleship and mission. We intentionally pursue building communities across the area which are centered around serving the neighborhood.
Doubt is often something we have been taught to fear--but doubt is not opposed to faith. Rather, we see doubt as an integral part of the faith journey--something to be lived, explored, and felt. We do not have all the answers, and that’s the exciting part - Journeying through all of life’s questions and murkiness together.
We stand on the Apostles' Creed, but bring all other topics into dialogue. We are a church with a diversity of belief. So each week after the sermon, we engage in a Q&A session designed for questions, comments, and even disagreement. We believe that these conversations are invaluable to the faith journey.
The Kingdom of God has been introduced and Jesus has invited us to do the work of bringing it to fruition. Jesus reveals God to us as a reconciling God, concerned primarily with completing the work of creation and healing us from sin and brokenness. As we follow his example, we do what we can to enact his kingdom on earth.
God is on mission and is calling his Church to join him in the good works he has prepared for us. We do this by being a church of communities. Each of our communities is deeply rooted and grounded in our neighborhoods as we seek to answer the question, what would Jesus do if he moved in next door?
The world is concerned with boundaries and barriers, with fences and walls. But God's kingdom is for all! We live into his kingdom by radically embracing the people in our lives - inviting them in and wading into the waters of mutual submission. We joyfully shed conventions and openly welcome those rejected by the church at large. We welcome the opportunity to see strangers become family.
